Unfurl 1.5.0 is now available!

Unfurl 1.5 is now available for Cinema 4D R12 and R13. A version for Cinema 4D R14 is in the works.

Here is a list of the features:

-    Unfurl Easy Setup now considers existing Unfurl setup on selected Polygon object and will replace it with a new setup.  This makes it easier to restart if you’ve changed the Polygon object in a way that requires recalculating Unfurling.

- Added Bevel Cap option for Bevel.

- Added Auto Keyframe and Reverse options for animating the Unfurl Amount automatically in either direction.

- Added Random Unfolding with Randomize button.

- Added Material Unfolding.  See Unfurl Documentation for more info.

- Added support for disconnected polygon sets on Polygon object.

Quick Update to Unfurl

Unfurl version 1.5.1 has these changes:

- Added Gray-Scale Gradient display.

- Updated documentation to be more generalized with respect to random and material-based unfolding.

- Fixed Unfurl Effect “Random Flip” to remove jittering of polygons by storing random flip direction per polygon.

Also expect a couple of videos on the main Unfurl page to showcase the Unfurl effect since Taylor James has removed all references from their site to the effect upon which Unfurl is based.

A Cinema 4D R14 version may take a bit more time since Visual Studio 2010 Express has known issues with 64-bit builds.  Might need to invest in Visual Studio 2010 Professional but that is quite an investment so we will see how this goes.

R13/R12 Plugins may work in Cinema 4D R14

So far, it appears that our plugins built for R12 and R13 are working in Cinema 4D R14.  There are no guarantees that some things might not be broken.  If there are issues they will be resolved with R14 builds as soon as the necessary tools can be procured.

Addendum:

Correction to last post: It appears that plugins, in general, may crash Cinema 4D R14 (and possibly R13) since the build configuration settings provided by Maxon are not quite correct.

“The crash is caused by 3rd party plugins that export symbols which are then erroneously used by the OS (causing a crash when closing splashscreen, windows, etc.); therefore don’t expect an update from Maxon to fix this (it ain’t possible to fix this outside of the plugin code, as it depends on timing and memory content, if the OS call crashes or not).”

Looks like I will need to rebuild all of my plugins, including Filip’s Solid Chamfer 2.1, to avoid crashing on MacOS.  I will make an announcement once all of the updated downloads are available.

If you need new serial numbers, please email me with your Cinema 4D or Maxon License Server R14 11-digit serial number so that I can get you updated.

Plugins Updated for R13 to work in R13 and R14 on MacOS!

Thank you all for your patience concerning this unexpected and confusing matter.  Maxon has really put a lot of effort into determining why this happened and finding ways to remedy the crashing of R13 and R12 plugins running in Cinema 4D R14 on MacOS X.  The Windows builds are unchanged and are either the R12 version that works in R13/R14 or the R13 version.  If additional changes are required to support changes in the Cinema 4D R14 SDK then an R14 version will be made available as soon as it is possible for me to get the required development tools (Visual Studio 2010 Pro is a bit too expensive for me at the moment).

The links below point to the updated builds for each plugin.

Note: Solid Chamfer 2.1 is currently in the process of being tested before being made available.

Update Status for R14 builds and SolidChamfer 2.1 for MacOSX

With the help of one of my users, Thomas Chen, I was able to get Visual C++ 2010 Express to work by applying a not-well mentioned patch.  Xcode 4 still needs to be installed (and verified using the cinema4dsdk included with CInema 4D) on my Mac before I can make any builds directly for Cinema 4D R14 due to inoperabilities (such as a visual point display offset in AlignToVector).  At least at this point, there are no fundamental roadblocks  to making plugins compatible with R14!

Also, just to finalize everything, SolidChamfer 2.1 has been built for Cinema 4D R13 with the updated information so that it no longer causes crashes.  Be sure to try it out, buy it, and support Filip’s essential plugin for Cinema 4D!

InterGenesis begins!

Now that most of the minutia of updating plugins and making them work in Cinema 4D R14 has been reconciled, my mind is focused on a proposal made some time ago (it seems too long ago due to difficulties of balancing a full-time job and other calamities with my software development).  Dan Farr of Daz3D asked me to make a Cinema 4D plugin similar to my InterPoser Pro plugin that would allow Daz Studio 4′s Genesis figures to work in Cinema 4D similarly to the way they work in Daz Studio.  Daz3D has been very open and willing to provide disclosure of information so that the emulation support is top-notch and I am just awaiting any updates in information before commencing the alpha development process.  So keep a watch for more announcements about this in the near future.

SymMorphy on its way!

SymMorphy is my latest plugin that answers this question: How do I mirror morphed geometry without using a Symmetry object and destroying the original mesh (points and polygons)?  It will allow you to mirror the changes to a mesh that represent a morph across one of the three cardinal planes (XY, YZ, XZ) by determining your morph changes (using a ‘snapshot’ of the unaltered mesh and a minimal deviation amount as a threshold).  You can translate the plane for better alignment if necessary.  The mirrored morph changes can be added to a Cinema 4D Morph tag as well so that they are ready for use immediately.

It is near completion and will be ready for release in a few weeks

SymMorphy is being tested and finalized for release.

There is an issue with the image buttons (for Stock and Custom Greebles and so on) in Greebler in Cinema 4D R14. I have contacted Maxon support and will check it on my weekend.

Have a Wonderful Holiday! Make the best of your family and friends and let the renderer work while you are with them. :)

Thanks,

Greebler for Cinema 4D R13 (and R14) updated!

The issue with non-working image buttons on the Greebler Object and Tag in Cinema 4D R14 were a result of some change to image button support in Cinema 4D.  I have found a workaround that resolves the issue and have posted an updated version of Greebler for all users.  You can download the update using this download link:

http://www.kuroyumes-developmentzone.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Greebler_R130_0104.zip

Since other plugins, such as InterPoser Pro and Unfurl, utilize image buttons, expect updates to these plugins as soon as possible.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding!

Sincerely,

Robert

Status Update:

SymMorphy is in beta testing phase and will be released once we get the thumbs up and everything ready to go.

InterPoser Pro has been updated to resolve a problem where there was no rendering to the Editor view with Render Settings set to other than “Single Frame”.  Also, the latest Convert feature will be available which supports rigging (Skin object, Joint objects, and Weights tag), morphs (C4D Morph tag), IK chains, and pose/animation information converted to Cinema 4D analogs.  This will be Release 2.0 but, because of your amazing patience and support, will be a regular update to IPP and not a paid release.

The situation with C4Daz (previously “InterGenesis”) is that no movement has been made and support from Daz3D has waned since their request for me to work on this plugin to support Genesis figures within Cinema 4D.  I surely hope that renewed interest will help get things rolling.

Announcement:

After making a deep consideration, adding a couple of paying roommates (a strategic move, btw), and improving sales (thanks to you all!), I will be leaving Sam’s Club very soon in order to pursue this business full-time.  Continuing to work full-time at Sam’s would cause this business to erode and fail while the potential benefits on either side are heavily gathered on the side of this business.  Working at Sam’s Club is a reasonable job if you don’t have many choices or are working through school but it is not a career by any stretch.  It cannot replace the growth potential and rewards that are reaped by doing what I find to be both challenging and enjoyable.

I have a growing queue of plugin ideas and projects.  There are currently two new plugins on the table (SymMorphy and C4Daz) and an update to InterPoser Pro nearing completion.  I have several more in the wings (though it is regrettable that Maxon beat me to the punch with the addition of a Collision Deformer in R14 – argh!).

So, I look forward to getting back in the saddle and start making things happen again.

Thanks,
Robert

InterPoser Pro final 1.9.9 update

SymMorphy plugin Released

Introducing a new tool for your arsenal.

When you need to create morphs by hand on a polygonal mesh (that is, using mesh editing tools rather than deformers and other procedural methods), the one area that proves most frustrating is replicating the changes so carefully made on one side of the mesh onto the other side. While a Symmetry Object could be used, it may cause incompatibilities if the mesh and changes are to be exported for use in other applications such as Poser, DazStudio, other 3D editing software, or as game content which may require that the vertex order remain untouched. This makes use of the Symmetry Object all but out of the question.

SymMorphy uses a plugin tag so that you can have it specifically on the polygon object for continual morph mirroring. With it, you store the unaltered mesh vertices so that you always have a clean slate to start from and SymMorphy has a base from which to determine the ‘morphed’ vertices of interest for each morph you create. Morphs are mirrored across one of the three coordinate planes relative to the polygon object and can be automatically added to a Cinema 4D Morph Deformer tag (R13 version only).

About incomplete sales transactions

There seem to be quite a few customers who purchase plugins, forget to include their Cinema 4D 11-digit serial number, and never respond to requests for it so as to complete the transaction.  I typically use two email addresses to contact the customer and it frustrates me that customer responses sometimes never occur (I want you to have a valid serial number so that you can use my plugins!).

If you are someone who purchased a plugin and seems to have never received a response, you may need to check your spam filters/folders, check your email service provider (mine sometimes will not accept or send to emails from certain domains), and find alternative routes to contact me.  I am a member of http://www.cgsociety.org/ as Kuroyume0161 and http://www.renderosity.com/ as kuroyume0161. You may also use the contact form on my website, http://www.kuroyumes-developmentzone.com/info/contact/ to get my attention.  In the worst situation, register in my forum, http://www.kuroyumes-developmentzone.com/bbpress/, with an “Interests” of ‘Cinema 4D’ to expedite registration so that email conflicts will be completely removed and we can finalize the purchase process.

Thanks,
Robert

A collision deformer in progress

$

I am currently working on a collision deformer for those who don’t have Cinema 4D R13 and later.  It is definitely not a trivial exercise.  There are more ways to do this than can be found, lack of cohesive information, and trying to be general to general meshes makes it even more fun.  For now, I want it to be basic and not consider the intricacies that are closer to cloth deformations.  More information as development progresses.
